A man who broke into his former California home twice in two days was shot and killed by the new owner.

Lennin Elizalde, 28, first forced his way into the Valley Springs house on Oct. 9, according to KCRA.

Elizadle, the son of the former homeowner, fled before cops arrived on the scene but warned the owners he intended on returning to the home, which he said he believed was still his, the article said.

A short time later police caught up with Elizalde and charged him with illegal entry, possession of meth and vandalism charges, according to the report. The suspect reportedly reiterated his threat about returning to the home to arresting officers.

A judge denied law enforcement’s request for a large bail in light of his threat because the suspect was not charged with a felony, the report stated.

On Oct. 10, Elizalde went back to the home just after midnight, kicked down the door and began assaulting two male occupants, one of whom shot him dead in self-defense, police told the outlet.

The new owners had recently bought the home through a real estate company, according to the article. They were not charged in connection with Elizadle’s death, the report said.
